Also of note, the convention website has been updated ahead of next year’s centennial. Information on negotiated rates for hotels have been posted and registration is slated to open sometime in June. Being in Kansas City this time should help ease costs for those wishing to travel.
Important Dates – 2018:

October Update & Fall Conference Wrapup
October Update
At the end of September we held our first annual alumni reunion at Thomas Mitchell County Park near Mitchellville. Thank you to everyone who came and joined in on the food and festivities. Be sure to check out some photos from this year’s event and be on the lookout for details on next year’s event, tentatively slated for around the last Saturday in September 2017.
We have also added a forum to the website, which you can check out using the link above. Members will have to register in order to participate on the forums.
Fall Conference Wrapup
This year’s fall regional event was held on October 6 & 7 at Iowa Valley Grinnell Campus.
2016 Officer Elections
This year we had elections for Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, and to fill the remaining year of an unexpired term for Membership Coordinator. The results are:
Vice President: Sheryl Jaber
Secretary: Sami Venteicher
Treasurer: Daniel Herrstrom
Membership Coordinator: Elaine Butler
Regional Event Scholarship, Raffles, and Giveaways
At each regional event the association gives out a scholarship to a chapter in attendance at the event to cover the registration fee for a member to attend a subsequent regional event. This semester’s recipient is the Beta Gamma Rho Chapter from the Des Moines Area Community College – Newton Campus.
At our marketplace table, in addition to the usual items we sold raffle tickets to members and advisors for a chance to win either a University of Iowa or Iowa State University themed basket. During our general session time we drew the winners of the two baskets and handed out a few prizes to those who could answer some Phi Theta Kappa trivia questions.
Looking forward to seeing everyone at Regional Convention in the spring!
